This was my first attempt to carve a more-than-average pumpkin, and it honestly wasn't so bad. This is about 2 hours worth of snapshots taken every 10 seconds, condensed down to about 1 minute (10 frames per second). I did this completely free hand, with no prior templates or designs to go off of, just the basic logos for OSX "finder" and windows.

Nine members of the Alumni Association of Northwest Arkansas Community College met for two hours in the Bentonville Campus' Student Center on Monday evening, 26 October, to take lessons in carving more intricate pumpkins from Laura Cates, an NWACC researcher whose hobby is extreme pumpkin-carving. Laura is very serious about her pumpkin carving. She arrived with specialized pumpkin-carving tools and books of pumpkin-carving patterns.
